When Your Carpets Get Spilled

There it goes again. Someone spilled grape juice on the carpet. Your 3-year old kid wiped off the paint on his fingers with the carpet. It is necessary that you to have some carpet cleaning supplies andcarpet cleaning chemicals in handy. Otherwise, you are left with a stained carpet and you are bound to throw it out sooner than you expected.

Here is how you can get rid of carpet stains

1. For you to remove a stain, you need to blot it out with a carpet cleaning chemical. You need to work your way from the outside in.

2. Rinse thoroughly the stain with clean lukewarm water then blot the stain again with a carpet cleaning material.

3. Do not scrub the carpet in any way. It will ruin your carpet fibers.

4. Do not let the spill soak to the carpet pad. You need to remove the spill before it gets to the carpet pad otherwise, it will destroy the carpet.

5. Use a simple cleaning solution by mixing ¼ tsp. of non-bleach detergent or white vinegar to 32 ounces of water to clean food dye, washable ink and latex paint stains.

6. Water-soluble stains like blood, chocolate, mustard, coffee, tea, vomit and wine can be removed. You just have to mix a tbsp. of ammonia and a cup of water. This is only applicable to carpets that are not made of wool or wool-blend.

7. For wool or wool-blend carpets, you need to use a mild detergent and water only for water-based stains.

8. Now, if the ammonia solution doesn’t work, you have to make use of a chlorine solution. You just have to mix one part chlorine bleach to five parts water. This is only applicable to solution-dyed carpets.

9. Fat, oil and wax stains on the carpet could be removed by simply using paper towel and iron. Put the paper towel over the stain and iron it on warm setting. The stain will come off the carpet and will stick to the paper towel.

10.  There are people who attend your parties that smoke. You can get rid of cigarette burns by rubbing the pile with the use of an edge of a hard and Flat Surface. A dull knife is enough to do the work.

11. Glue stains can be removed by moistening a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol. Press it on the stain. When the glue residue is thoroughly moistened, wipe it off. Repeat the steps until the stain is completely removed.

12. Wax and gum stains are removed in similar ways. Get some ice and rub it against the wax or gum. Do it until the gum or wax freezes. Get a blunt object like a spatula or spoon. Shatter the frozen wax or stain. You can then vacuum all the softened pieces. Lastly, blot the carpet with white towel.

13. Nail Polish is not the hard to remove. Buy a nail polish remover. Spray some of it to the stain and blot it with a clean white cloth.
